Spring?

I think spring is FINALLY in the first here in Western New York. It was a cold brutal winter and I look forward to Warner days. That is probably one of the reasons I am so excited about Easter this year.
In general I am not a holiday person. I believe that has more to do with not having children than I care to admit….until now. I am looking at this as a celebration of Spring and ask that brings. I have a delicious meal planned for the two of us.
After a 1 1/2 hour hunt for a ham for two people I refused to accept failure–I was not willing to spend $8 on said ham. I settled on a 7 lb spiral ham. Talk about leftovers. Ham in hand I headed home to decide the menu and this is what was decided on:
Spiral Ham
Parmesan Smashed Potatoes
Bacon & Shallot Green Beans
Roasted Spaghetti Squash
Beets & Horseradish
Purple Eggs (pickled)
Pumpernickel Bread
Cupcakes with Chocolate Frosting
Raspberry Jello with whipped topping
Wonder if I have enough food….lol
I came to the realization that I have spent little time on learning to Crochet. After thinking on this a bit I learned something….I am too tough on myself. I wanted to learn new things and that spiraled out of control. I was trying to do too much. So I decided that if the only be thing I work on for this year is Crocheting that is okay with me. So I gathered my supplies and will be spending time learning this weekend. Mid May I have a meet up with needle crafters. I am looking very forward to this.
I also learned that trying new things whenever the opportunity arises is my new look on life. I feel like I didn’t pay off the day spring cleaning my mind. lol I feel recharged and refreshed.
May you have a bright and cheery spring!

A Quiet Saturday?

Today I decided to make the Infinity Scarf for my nephew’s fiancee that I have been putting off. I have been putting it off as I am not a huge fan of working with the Jersey Init. This time it went better. Maybe because it’s for a family member and I was making it out of love. It is almost completed. I just have to do the hand stitching. I started it but decided to put it aside until tomorrow. Apparently it is not wise to hand stitch with black thread on grey and black fabric when one is wearing black….lesson learned.
I also spent some time working on organizing my recipes. I have taken the recipes that I have been making over the years and the recipes from Pinterest that I love and put them on my laptop. That was the easy part. Now to add the recipes that are scattered around my house. Eventually I will be turning this into an actual bound cookbook. I am so excited about this. I was able to locate a local book binder that is helping me with this project.
My Love is making his amazing bbq chicken tonight for dinner. This got me to thinking that I simply must have cornbread to go with it…..so of to the kitchen I went. It smells delicious in here. A few weeks ago I made cornbread but learned I prefer it sweet so I tried a new recipe today. Hoping I like this one much better!
I will also be working on altering a pair of jeans for My Love. See I bought them for him for Christmas and the silly man took the tags off and discarded the receipt so he was unable to return them. When he tried them on they where HUGE. I bought the size he told me but an certain they where mislabeled. A bit nervous about this project but we decided together that worst case is that they will be up cycled into something else.
Hope your enjoying this Beautiful Saturday!!!!

I have been quiet for a bit…never fail I am back! Life has been crazy lately and that nuttiness is finally dying down. This past week I made a quilted apron (picture will be posted as soon as I remember where the cable is for my camera…lol), lilac solid perfume, 2 kinds of cookies and have started brainstorming fundraising ideas.
More on the fundraising: My charity of choice is JDRF . My best friend,s youngest daughter was diagnosed with T1D at the age of 5 she is now 17. She asked us last spring if we could do the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. Of course we all said yes. So we all scrambled to raise money in 6 weeks
. Well this year I am trying to get an early start however I am in a quandary: I am not very comfortable hounding people to donate but it is such a good cause. Last year I made Toddler Pillows and donated all the money I made toward the walk. This year I decided again that making something to sell would be the best option for me. Here is where I am stuck…I am thinking of such things as Potholders, Sunglasses case, Pattern Weights (which could double as bean bag toys for toddlers), Stethoscope covers. I thought that something unisex would be best but the question is what? I am open to suggestions.
My next sewing projects include coupon organizer, infinity scarf for my nephew’s fiancée, fleece pants for My Love. I am trying to teach myself to crochet, tatting, perfect the solid perfume making and recently joined my favorite author’s Street Team. Which reminds me that I plan on including book reviews/thoughts into my blog. Oops almost forgot I will be meeting my favorite author Heather Wardell this spring to say I am excited is putting it mildly. I will be posting my New Years Resolutions soon. Stay tuned to see what fun things I have planned for 2014.
One more thing before I go. Today the mailman arrived with an unexpected package inside was a beautiful diamond ring I will also be picking up the Anniversary Band that My Love purchased for me in a matter of a few days. If there is interest I would be more than happy to share pictures of these gorgeous rings with you…just let me know!

Fall has found a way into my heart! Summer has always been my favorite season. All of a sudden last night I started thinking how fall is so pretty and that I want some fall themed items for my living room and wouldn’t it be nice to make bake something pumpkin. This afternoon I have made a pan of pumpkin bars. No they are not from scratch…it is a box mix I picked up at Trader Joe’s last night. I figured well the oven is on I mind as well make a batch of roasted chickpeas. So I looked in the cupboard then quick searched Pinterest. I found what I was looking for and just finished them…Pumpkin Pie Roasted ChickPeas. Looking forward to them cooling as there is an ingredient in them that makes me curious as to how it will play in the flavor. Only time will tell. Currently I have a pot of Chicken Rice Soup simmering even though it is 78 degrees right now. When the cooking/baking bug hits me weather is irrelevant. I had planned on doing some sewing today but that has yet to happen. Just having fun and enjoying this beautiful Saturday, Hope you are too!

I am falling in love with Fall! I am in total pumpkin mode. I am totally addicted to Pumpkin Brewed Coffee from Starbucks, Last night I went to the opening of Trader Joe’s and purchased: Pumpkin Bar Mix, Pumpkin Pancake & Waffle Mix, Raw Pumpkin seeds (I do not like the roasted and salted ones) and these cute pumpkins!
