SO I am finally coming to join the world a bit more these days. It is very difficult to find the right words lately. I usually am full of them. Since Mom passed away I got mainly nothing. My Love, Crocheting and a great support team is helping through my grief.

Seeing that I am basically wordless I will let you see that my April was full of yarny goodness

Thursday January 29, 2015 6:13 pm is a date and time I will never forget. This is when the call that changed my life forever came in. It was my Dad calling from Tennessee.  He said he was calling to tell me that Mom passed away. She took a nap and just never woke up. After talking with Dad I hung up and literally whaled to My Love that ” My Mom died today”. I knew one day that call would come…but I never thought it would come now.  It is so hard knowing that I will never hear her voice again. I had talked to her  for maybe two minutes the week before when she called to tell me my Aunt Katie was in the hospital and not doing well. I am feel such regret for not being a better daughter. I want to tell her how much I Love her and that I am sorry…but I can’t. Dad says she loved me. Just that morning I deleted her last text message and an old voice mail.

I learned once I was in Tennessee that she had been in a lot of pain everyday. Dad and My Sister say at least she at peace now. I am thankful that she is not in pain anymore. One can never prepare for the loss of a parent.

I took a week off from work because once I got back home there was just no way that I could function at work.   I am so very fortunate to work for an employer that told me to take all the time I needed.  Everyone overall at work have been very understanding. As if this is not enough I received a text message on  February 16, 2015 from one of my cousin’s. She wanted to let me know that Aunt Katie passed away. The services for her where local and last weekend. I could not attend…I just felt that if I did I might actually break.

One thing that I have been able to do is join a group online for those coping with the loss of a parent. It does help a bit knowing that I am not alone. Although moments like now when the tears just keep coming, when I feel an empty spot inside and all alone I wish there was somewhere I could turn.

I needed wanted to share with you all.

I have really become very lax in blogging the past 6 months or so. I feel terrible about this. I really want to be a “blogger” but my life has been full. I am struggling with the decision on to stop my blog or not. I will continue to think on this as I do not want to make a hasty decision. Perhaps I will only blog monthly. I am looking forward to any feedback you may have for me.

I think spring is FINALLY in the first here in Western New York.   It was a cold brutal winter and I look forward to Warner days. That is probably one of the reasons I am so excited about Easter this year.
In general I am not a holiday person. I believe that has more to do with not having children than I care to admit….until now. I am looking at this as a celebration of Spring and ask that brings. I have a delicious meal planned for the two of us.
After a 1 1/2 hour hunt for a ham for two people I refused to accept failure–I was not willing to spend $8 on said ham. I settled on a 7 lb spiral ham. Talk about leftovers. Ham in hand I headed home to decide the menu and this is what was decided on:

Spiral Ham
Parmesan Smashed Potatoes
Bacon & Shallot Green Beans
Roasted Spaghetti Squash
Beets & Horseradish
Purple Eggs (pickled)
Pumpernickel Bread
Cupcakes with Chocolate Frosting
Raspberry Jello with whipped topping

Wonder if I have enough food….lol

I came to the realization that I have spent little time on learning to Crochet. After thinking on this a bit I learned something….I am too tough on myself. I wanted to learn new things and that spiraled out of control. I was trying to do too much. So I decided that if the only be thing I work on for this year is Crocheting that is okay with me. So I gathered my supplies and will be spending time learning this weekend. Mid May I have a meet up with needle crafters. I am looking very forward to this.
I also learned that trying new things whenever the opportunity arises is my new look on life. I feel like I didn’t pay off the day spring cleaning my mind. lol I feel recharged and refreshed.
May you have a bright and cheery spring!

I have been a busy lady today. Had my hair trimmed, stopped and picked up donuts for breakfast (these are sooo worth the calories), went to the tea shop, stopped at the hobby store with My Love ( he is hugely into RC Cars) and finally stopped and picked up apples.
It is rather grey outside today so I decided to make a pork roast and applesauce. My Love will make his famous twice baked potatoes too. One of my happiest times is even we make a meal together.
BTW:  My Love is very happy with his blanket…which makes me smile!!!
Hope your making the most of this day!

Update: I am sad to say that Ben passed away a few days ago.
This little boy and his family live in my community. This is such a heart breaking story. The only thing that can be done is to let this family knows that we support them. Locally people are going Blue for Ben. As sad and heart wrenching as this may be I needed to share with you.

Work Tote Completed

I am so thrilled with the final bag I made. I initially had no closure for the bag. Due to its size 18×18 I felt it needed some way to close so….off I went to make a flap closure

Our Day is what we call our anniversary. This year instead of making set plans we decided to just do.  After breakfast we decided to go to the Botanical Gardens (http://www.buffalogardens.com/). No matter how many times one goes here there is always something new to see. We so enjoy looking at all the plants, trees and fish that live here. Nature tends to center the two of us so this was a great start to Our Day.

Next up was rug shopping…about a month ago a pipe burst in our apartment and we lost out living room rug. Off to see what treasures we could find at Ollies. I LOVE the rug we found. It so goes perfect with our brown couch.

New Rug

At this point My Love turned to me and asked if I would like to go window shopping at the mall. I figured why not. I am not a big mall person but love to window shop. I have not been to this particular mall in sometime and learned that there was a Pandora store. I do own a Pandora bracelet and looked at it as an opportunity to look at charms. I like that my bracelet each charm has meaning to me so I take my time in purchasing them. I did acquire a new charm…..The World’s A Stage. I chose this particular charm as Life & Marriage are full of ups and downs.

We had an early dinner at Jack Astor’s. We always enjoy the food. So that was a bit of a look into Our Day.

I have been making tweaks to my blog pages. Still learning what is working for me and what isn’t. Just added some pictures from the Botanical Gardens. Guess I should stop procrastinating and finally sit down and complete my OSHA video tutorial that I promised I would complete today. After it is completing I am hoping to make a batch of hummus and do some reading.

Enjoy what today brings you!
