Rail Station

Just this past Friday I decided I needed quality me time. So I headed to the Elmwood Village and Canalside in Buffalo, NY.
My 1st stop was at Ashker’s (http://www.ashkers.com/)
Upbeet I tried their Upbeet (Beet, Apple, Carrot and Celery)and an Egg White Vegetable Omelet. I highly recommend both!!
2nd Stop was Caffe Aroma where I deviated form my usual Iced Coffee or Macchiato. Instead I went for the Cappuccino and am not sorry for the decision. This cappuccino was spot on and I informed the barista as such!
3rd Stop was Karma Salon on a spur of the moment I decided I needed a haircut. I Yelped on my phone and Ta Da:

My super cute short summer do!

4th Stop was Everything Elmwood (http://www.everythingelmwood.org/). It was here that I purchased these cute notebooks and a couple of cards (that since have been mailed…oops forgot to take pictures)

Years ago I use to write poetry. I have been missing it of late. Thinking this is the perfect motivation to start again.

5th stop was a spice store. I ended up with a Salt Free all purpose seasoning, Cilantro, Hungarian Paprika and Orange Peel (thinking that the latter will make a fabulous Orange infused simple syrup for Iced Coffee).
6th Stop was Lexington Coop (http://lexington.coop/). I figured can not go Canalside with out something to drink and a snack. Plus it is always a fun shopping experience. Wish we had other Coop’s locally.
7th Stop was Pearl Street Grill (http://buffalobrewerydistrict.com/pearl/node/29). I noticed the time and thought hmmm not too early for a Iced Cold Beer. I actually allowed the waiter to decide for me. All I told him was that I did not like IPA’s and was thinking something fruity. I ended up with a BlueEyed Blueberry Blonde. I enjoyed it though not something I will go out of my way for. I also had the Wild Mushroom flatbread. I was not sure what to expect but was just thrilled it contained marinaded mushrooms. It was Yummers!!
8th Stop was Canalside (http://www.canalsidebuffalo.com/). They offer something for everyone. From activities for children to concerts and an Artist Market.
9th Stop was Talking Leaves Bookstore (http://www.tleavesbooks.com/). I picked up a book of poetry and a book by an author that is new to me.

Final stop was back to at Ashker’s. I picked up their Hummus & Garden Veggie Wrap. This was delicious. It was so big that I had half for dinner and finished the other half the next day (everything was still crisp). Oh and not to mention 2 more Upbeets! Apparently I have developed an Upbeet problem…lol
Well I see this is my longest post yet! Hope you enjoyed.

I picked up this fabulous yarn earlier this week at Wal Mart. The colors caught my eye. I was immediately drawn to it. Upon arriving home I noticed that my project bag is composed of similar colors. This bag you may remember was made from the leftover Batik from the Car CD Holder I made for My Love.

So what to make…oooo how about those fingerless mittens. I thought that was a great idea until I realized I really wanted a scarf with these colors. Final decision was a scarf with matching mittens. I am truly enjoying crocheting!!!
Enjoy the beautiful weekend that is ahead of you!!!

A Dream Come True

Me & Heather Wardell. This is a picture that was taken last night at a local Starbucks! I can’t believe after all these years I finally met her. I will be doing a post soon on this fun filled evening.
Not my favorite picture of me but people it is HEATHER WARDELL standing next to me!

Tonight is the beginning of a busy weekend for me. I have errands to do tonite : ie grocery shopping and also in need of a new outfit for Sunday! Tomorrow is cleaning day and hoping to make a few more Comfort Pillows. Sunday early afternoon I have having my hair colored and highlighted. Sunday evening I am meeting with the Author Heather Wardell….btw if you do not already knows she is my FAVORITE author. This is so exciting as I get two hours with her at a local Starbucks. As far as I know it will be just the 2 of us!!!! Monday I go to obtain my enhanced drivers license…which will allow me to go to Ikea in Canada next Saturday!!!
I plan on posting pictures of my time with Heather next week. I don’t have any recent photos of myself in clothes that actually fit…so this is a great opportunity.

While at Hobby Lobby this weekend I picked up 2 yards of this fleece. My Love had requested a blanket. Easy. Sure. I got this.
This is now day 2 of the blanket project.
Let’s recap
Day 1: upper thread brakes twice, lower thread brakes once, stitching gets wonky, wonky stitches removed, stitches go wonky (again), stitches removed (again).
Day 2: rethreading machine, start with new needle, realize the problem is the selected stitch, change stitches (I will fix it so no one will tell), realize I can not hide the stitches and be happy with how it looks, cut off all sewing that took place thus far. So now I have slightly under 2 yards of fabric and will start again tomorrow.
Despite all this I am enjoying myself.

I used one pant leg and part of the bottom hem off the other leg to make this bag.

This is where the bag now lives. Inside are all the plastic bags that seemed to take over this closet…you know the ones from the grocery store, Target and Wal-Mart. I am so proud of this great idea that came to me!!

Ta Da....The big reveal

Today I went Christmas in the Country in Hamburg, NY. This is the largest Craft festival I have ever been to. I have never seen so many artisan’s in one place. I went looking for 2 things in particular and I found both so I am a very happy woman today.

I have been striving on completing the package for my Mother In Law’s birthday and believe that today I have achieved that. She loves light houses and I was able to find this breathtaking night light that I am certain she will adore.

I also am always on the look out for hand crafted soaps. Today I discovered Bath & Bliss a company out of Grand Island, NY (my own backyard). I could not resist their Snow Angel ( chocolate and white musk) and also their Lavender. Lavender is amazing!! I am so excited to try them. This is the first time I will be trying an Olive Oil soap. In the past I have always gone the way of Goat’s Milk.

The only think My Love was interested in was Hot Chocolate. I worried as I was told that they were not going to be there. I think I almost did the happy dance when I saw them. Before I knew it I was paying for White Hot Chocolate, Coconut Hot Chocolate and Almond Amaretto Cappuccino. We should be stocked for awhile…best part is I found that they have a website!!

Well my dinner guest have arrived and off to be a good hostess!!

Tonite progress has occurred. I attached the interfacing to the sides, bottom, front and back. I sewed and attached pocket 1 to the front.
*Honestly did not understand pleating so I designed this pocket myself.

Update….continually having issues almost at the point of discarding project.

Now it is my sewing nook! Not so sad now!!!!
