Hi. Well it has been a bit since I last posted. Life has been busy lately. I am still crocheting. In fact I finished my 1st Shawl. It was so much fun and easy to make. I have begun another one. This one and the one after that are going to be birthday gifts. I know I know I said this was to be ny selfish hobby. Boy was I in denial!

I am still sewing. In fact I am in the midst of my biggest project yet. A bag to contain my yarn stash. Of course I can not take the easy path. I am making it a patchwork bag. It contains 5 different fabrics. I am cutting them so they are 10 inches long by 6 inches wide. Seriously wondering if I am insane.

I also have an order for an apron. And just yesterday I was asked to make a band to hold an ostomy bag in place for one of the sweetest 4 year olds I know.

Hope your enjoying your Saturday

Paisley Scarf Becomes Paisley Bag

Recently it came to my attention that I have yet to make something for my best friend. I have made numerous things for some of her children.

So I decided to make a scarf out of some fabric I had purchased on clearance at Hobby Lobby awhile back. Only to discover I hated it as a scarf. What to do with a 42 inch tube of fabric.

In under an hour I created this bag! I intend to use it as my crochet project bag.

I recently realized that I have 99 followers…in under a year. I am in complete awe that so many people are interested in what I have to say. I know that people follow blogs for different reasons. I am curious as to why you follow my particular blog. On that note I am excited to share with you what my most recent endeavor is. I started an online course to learn how to write for the web. I thought it would help improve the writing I do on my blog. This is a month long course that I started on 6/2/2014. So far I have picked up some great ideas. This is so exciting for me.

A couple of weeks ago I was in a music video for a Whiskey Reverb http://whiskeyreverb.com/ . The video goes live tomorrow at 10 am. Unfortunate for me I will be at work when it does go live. However, I will post a link here on my blog for those that may be interested in seeing me in a music video for my favorite band.

I am still crocheting and sewing. I am currently crocheting  a scarf. It is not going as quickly as I may like seeing that I currently am dealing with tendinitis in my right elbow. I also managed to injury the right elbow while on a hike on Sunday. The choice was fall into a ravine or brace myself against a tree with the right elbow. I think I made the safest decision. I am going to put up some pictures this evening. Hope everyone is well and happy!

If you could be so kind as to let me know why you follow my blog I would appreciate it. I am asking as I am hoping to use it as a tool for gaining incite on my followers.

I picked up this fabulous yarn earlier this week at Wal Mart. The colors caught my eye. I was immediately drawn to it. Upon arriving home I noticed that my project bag is composed of similar colors. This bag you may remember was made from the leftover Batik from the Car CD Holder I made for My Love.

So what to make…oooo how about those fingerless mittens. I thought that was a great idea until I realized I really wanted a scarf with these colors. Final decision was a scarf with matching mittens. I am truly enjoying crocheting!!!
Enjoy the beautiful weekend that is ahead of you!!!

Last night I added a new page to my blog. Why don’t you go check it out!

Made a run to Joann’s for a couple yards of muslin, a flower cookie cutter and some pink fabric. I stopped at Starbucks on the way home…for a Trenta Orange Spiced Iced Coffee. Anyone available in a bit to scrap me off the ceiling as I already have had a large coffee and a Grande Iced Skinny Vanilla Macchiato but one  needs fuel for cookie baking and sewing today.

I am making this cookie recipe[e I came across yesterday: http://bakingbites.com/2014/03/thick-cut-out-sugar-cookies/   Seriously a sugar cookie that does not require refrigeration. I am totally there. I will also be working on making another Comfort Pillow this time making some alterations to the original directions. I will also be adding some lavender to it. This is for my niece Anna. I think every girl/woman needs one of these for that time of the month. sewing, menses,

Sunny and Blue Sky here…enjoy your SUNday!

Tonight is the beginning of a busy weekend for me. I have errands to do tonite : ie grocery shopping and also in need of a new outfit for Sunday! Tomorrow is cleaning day and hoping to make a few more Comfort Pillows. Sunday early afternoon I have having my hair colored and highlighted. Sunday evening I am meeting with the Author Heather Wardell….btw if you do not already knows she is my FAVORITE author. This is so exciting as I get two hours with her at a local Starbucks. As far as I know it will be just the 2 of us!!!! Monday I go to obtain my enhanced drivers license…which will allow me to go to Ikea in Canada next Saturday!!!
I plan on posting pictures of my time with Heather next week. I don’t have any recent photos of myself in clothes that actually fit…so this is a great opportunity.

I was on Fiskars website the other night and came across instructions for making a comfort pillow. It seemed simple enough so I figured why not. Boy was I wrong…every thing was great until I went to sew it after filling with flax seed. The dang fabric would not move. So I ended up finishing this one with a couple of rows of stitches and a pair of pinking shears.

I made a second one. As you can see this one I finished a bit differently.

I made these as I was looking for a gift for someone and thought this would be perfect her being a runner.  I feel that the second one is not full enough ( I ran out of flax seed) So I will keep it for myself. It seems to appears to be the perfect size to use for alleviating both menstrual cramps and the neck pain I get plagued with!

While at Hobby Lobby this weekend I picked up 2 yards of this fleece. My Love had requested a blanket. Easy. Sure. I got this.
This is now day 2 of the blanket project.
Let’s recap
Day 1: upper thread brakes twice, lower thread brakes once, stitching gets wonky, wonky stitches removed, stitches go wonky (again), stitches removed (again).
Day 2: rethreading machine, start with new needle, realize the problem is the selected stitch, change stitches (I will fix it so no one will tell), realize I can not hide the stitches and be happy with how it looks, cut off all sewing that took place thus far. So now I have slightly under 2 yards of fabric and will start again tomorrow.
Despite all this I am enjoying myself.

So I had decided that every day in the month of March I would take a picture. It was 3.4.14 when I realized I had yet to do this. So I decided I would start today….well yesterday I was at a baby shower and soon learned there was no juice left in my camera batteries. Figures right…lol Guess this endeavor needs to wait a bit longer. Although I did take a picture of a mini pine tree I planted in 2012…I put it on my instagram.
Today I finally made progress on the Jean alterations for My Love….now if he would stop working on his hobby for a few moments to try on the jeans they may actually be completed today.  It is not the best alterations but I am pretty proud seeing I have no clue what I am doing and just went with it. As My Love says “So what…they are only for work. I give you credit for even attempting to fix them”. Awww isn’t he sweet.
Next up: A cute little purse for me and a blanket for him!!!
